Swedac’s policy for the acceptance of conformity assessment procedures with regard to accreditation specifies the requirements that a conformity assessment procedure must fulfill for Swedac to assess whether it is appropriate for use under accreditation.

When it comes to conformity assessment procedures that will be incorporated into legislation, these are submitted to Swedac as a referral and are handled through Swedac’s regular referral process, meaning that an application form is not required. In other cases, the application form should be used as described below. As part of the assessment of an application, we may need to contact other authorities or engage technical experts to help ensure that, among other things, the purpose of the conformity assessment procedure is met.

We use the same application procedure both for accreditation intended for national use and for accreditation intended for international use. When assessing a procedure at the international level, Swedac collaborates with other accreditation bodies in Europe.
As a guidance for those looking to develop a conformity assessment procedure, the following guides are available.
