Every year, the European Commission organises a conference focusing on quality infrastructure in the Eastern Partnership. The focus this year was market surveillance and Swedac was invited to demonstrate how market surveillance is organised in Sweden.

Swedac has participated in the expert group for the market surveillance investigation. The investigation is proposing new legislation on market surveillance. The final proposal shall be submitted to the Government by January 2018.

At the request of the Swedish government Swedac has analyzed what consequences, particularly for Swedish interests, the UK’s withdrawal from the EU may have for the application of technical regulations in trade in goods.

The programme, Quality Infrastructure for Food Safety aims at providing the experience and the knowledge on how to develop, maintain and, in practice, work with national and especially the regional systems for food safety and trade in food.

World Accreditation Day is a global initiative to highlight how accreditation creates security in everyday life. Thanks to accreditation we can feel safe when we go up and down in a lift, drive a car or drink water from a tap. This year, the focus is on the construction sector and how accreditation contributes to sustainable and smart cities of the future.

Over four weeks, about 30 senior managers and government officials from seven countries in southern Africa have learned about quality infrastructure and trade under Swedac's supervision. Dr Eve Gadzikwa, Head of Standards Association of Zimbabwe, is one of the participants.
